Went out on patrol today to see if we could find any likely firing position to the check point from M1P, and mapped them, I smashed the door in on one compound that was locked up but found nothing but motorbike parts, in the second compound we went to where there was a window with perfect line of sight to Qudart, and the window ledged had carbon burn’s on it, so it had been used to fire at the CP recently, so again we mapped it for future reference. It was weird that the people there seemed quite agitated around us whenever we tried to talk to them, so I’m guessing that Taliban were in the area keeping an eye on us.
The problem is that this sharpshooter is new to the area and he’s good, he’s getting closer and closer with every shot, It won’t be long before one of us takes a hit from him, of that I’m sure, but as for now I count our lucky stars that nothing has happened considering the amount of contact’s we have had, it’s just a game of odd’s Im afraid, with this many rounds coming in one will be on target.
We put in a snap vehicle check point today (VCP), and made a manikin to put in the top cover of the Jackal to see it we could get the sharpshooter to take a pop at it. We were out there for 1 hour 45 mins before he took his shot, he hit the manikin then all fucking hell broke loose. I think it was M…… that PID the firing position, it was next to the mosque in M1Z. So I with the UGL, GMG, GPMG and the 66 started raining down hell on the position. There was a little problem with the 66, and that was it was a tad off, and smashed the west side of the mosque, during prayer time! Woops. Well to say we pissed off a few people would be an understatement of the century. Well that’s kind of set the tone now, smashing a mosque would be bad enough, but during prayer time! I’m thinking we may get hit hard tonight or tomorrow while we are out.
Well as it happened it was during my stag around 2030 on the super sanger, about 10 rounds whizzed over the CP, I saw muzzle flash so jumped on the GPMG, and smashed 100 link into the area. I was happy to get some more rounds down today, still I’m thinking that the reputation of us smashing that mosque are not over yet.
