29th January

We went out into W6K so all eyes were on us so the Op could collapse under the radar and come meet us. So we went firm at C45 200m away, went firm for about 10mins and we started getting contacted straight away. However we were in a quality position with all round defense, so we were able to all smash the firing position, then a Taliban crawls onto a roof 300m away and Con took a shot with his riffle and the blokes head just dropped ‘I FUCKING GOT HIM, BOSS HE’S FUCKING DEAD’, to be fair it was a quality shot at 300m and to see the blokes head just drop, and he didn’t move at all as we all started to brass him up after that, the first shot must have been a pink mist! Pure ally. We couldn’t risk doing a BDA as it meant crossing too much open ground, and with a big call sign, the risk outweighed the reward, we are brave… not stupid!

After a good hour in contact, which felt like 5mins, I was able to get a few rounds down and 7 UGL’s so my tally at the end of this tour will be ridiculous, never thought in a million years Qudrat would be this kinetic. We met up with the Op team and came back to Qudrat and all sat down and gobbed off about the contact and about the last fortnight out here, it’s been one I’ll never forget that’s for sure.
